To understand better why Syria is so important I would like you to see all the conflicts directly or indirectly related to the first Cold War and some or all of these conflicts were also Proxy Wars like the Syrian war now is too.

While the Cold War itself never escalated into direct confrontation, there were a number of conflicts related to the Cold War around the globe, spanning the entirety of the period usually prescribed to it (1947–1991).^[1][2]
